I don't know about you, but I am definitely getting excited about Thanksgiving!  I had my first Thanksgiving meal this week on Sunday. Now that I have finally burned off that I am ready for another!  For this I prepared, for the first time ever, cranberry raspberry apple salad.  This recipe has been a Thanksgiving tradition in my family for as long as I can remember.  For this recipe you will need:

1 14 oz. of whole cranberry cranberry sauce
2 4 oz. boxes of raspberry jello
1 14 oz. can of applesauce
1 cup of boiling water

1. take your jello and add it to 1 cup of boiling water and stir until jello is dissolved
2. add your cranberry sauce
3. add your applesauce
4. refrigerate overnight
recipe from my great-grandmother

So this is an incredibly easy but it is a great alternative for cranberry sauce a la' can.
Now I had a problem finding applesauce in a can.  I went with a jar and measured using my cranberry sauce can.  When you add your cranberry sauce to the mixture, add while the water is still hot and mush it down with a fork.  This helps break some of the cranberries down and bring out more flavor.

This is a great dish to make on the fly if you need something quick.  It works great as a side dish or on the desert table!
